The goals of the TheMoSiA Federative Network are the following:
- Support scientific animation in the theoretical chemistry and modeling field
- Support national and international collaborations
- Connect the academic and industrial worlds
- Support training, in particular for recently graduated students
- Create and maintain a communication tool for the scientific community

The Gaston Berthier Prize
Gaston Berthier (1923-2009) was an early leader of the French Theoretical Chemistry community. Since 2012, the Gaston Berthier Prize is awarded every two years to a PhD thesis of outstanding quality in Theoretical Chemistry of Molecular Modeling. The awardee is invited to present his/her work during the ThéMoSiA Congress.
List of previous Gaston Berthier awards:
- 2022: Anthony Ferté, Étude théorique des processus de double ionisation/excitation en couche interne, Laboratoire de Chimie Physique – Matière et Rayonnement, Paris
- 2020: Xiaojing Wu, Contribution to the Development of Advanced Approaches for Electron and Molecular Dynamics Simulations in Extended Biomolecules, Laboratoire de Chimie Physique, Orsay
- 2018: Guglielmo Fernandez-Garcia, Lanthanide-based SMMs : from molecular properties to surface grafting exploiting multi-level ab initio techniques, Institut des Sciences Chimiques de Rennes
- 2016: Thibaud Étienne, Développement et application de stratégies d’étude théorique de propriétés remarquables relatives aux états excités moléculaires, Laboratoire Structures et réactivité des systèmes moléculaires complexes, Nancy
- 2014: Florent di Meo, Molecular and supramolecular highlights on reactivity and optoelectronics of natural polyphenols, Laboratoire de Chimie des Substances Naturelles, Limoges
- 2012: Mikaël Kepenekian, Ab initio inspection of magnetic and redox hysteresis, CEA Grenoble-ENS Lyon
Support of Scientific meetings and new collaborations
The ThéMoSia network can grant financial support for events organized in France (meetings, workshops, summer schools) related to the network’s scientific interests. ThéMoSiA also supports new collaborations between French research groups that involve the transfer of new computing skills from one research group to the other. The call for applications usually opens every year in March.
